Google offers some really cool safety features to Pixel smartphone users. Now it appears that the tech giant is all set to bring the safety features to other Android devices as well. The pre-installed personal safety offers features like car crash detection, location sharing during emergencies and nearby crisis alerts.
According to a report by 9to5Google, Google is preparing to bring car crash detection and other safety features to non-Pixel smartphones. The report reveals that the latest decompiled version of an application uploaded by Google on the Play Store hints that these safety features are coming to other Android smartphones.
One of the most liked safety features of the Pixel smartphones is car crash detection.
The crash detection feature uses ultra-low-power sensors to detect audio and high-speed movement to recognise if a device has been involved in a crash. So, in case a Pixel phone detects a vehicle collision then an alarm will ring and the phone will call the user if they need help. And in case the responder says yes then Pixel will contact the emergency personnel.
Along with this, the personal safety app can also be used to alert users in time of any natural calamity like flood, earthquake and more. So, all these features are expected to come to other Android smartphones in the future.
“It’s not immediately clear how these Personal Safety features would be made available to other Android phones, especially as the app needs sensitive permissions to be able to work correctly. One possibility, suggested in the code, is that these Personal Safety features will be made available through Google Play Services, which already has the necessary permissions on the majority of Android phones,” adds the report.
