These PC users should wait and not install Windows 11 right now – Times of India

Microsoft has started to roll out the Windows 11 update for compatible devices this week. Announced in June, the operating system was available for public testing for three months and while most of the bugs were resolved before the public release, few issues have slipped by undetected. Computer processor manufacturer AMD has revealed that Windows 11 is negatively affecting its processors, which may result in reduced performance.
According to AMD, after installing Windows 11, measured and functional L3 cache latency on its processors may increase as much as three times that impacts the access time of applications sensitive to memory subsystems. The performance issue may be as high as 15% in certain games, but usually the impact ranges between 3% and 5%.
Another issue stated by the company is that preferred cores may not preferentially schedule threads on a processor’s fastest core after the update. This issue hampers applications sensitive to the performance of one or a few CPU threads. As per the company, the performance impact may be more detectable in >8-core processors above 65W TDP.
A fix of these issues will likely be available in the coming weeks as the company has said that it will be releasing a software update this month only.
Apart from the above-mentioned bugs, few users have also reported memory leak issues after installing the new operating system. As per a user in Reddit, the computer is allocating too much RAM to the File Explorer and the allocation keeps on increasing until you restart the program using the Task Manager or restart the machine altogether. Although this bug has been reported on the Microsoft Feedback Hub, the company hasn’t acknowledged the issue as of now.
Windows 11 is a successor to Windows 10, which was launched in 2015, and is built on the same platform. The update adds a refreshed look and more apps to your devices. On Windows 11, the taskbar looks similar to the one seen on Mac and the context menus, popups and windows have rounded corners. It now also supports Android apps.
