These smartwatch users may soon be able to use WhatsApp – Times of India

The most popular messaging app, WhatsApp, is finally coming to WearOS-powered smartwatches. As per an online report, the Meta-owned platform has started rolling out the beta version of the app for WearOS-powered smartwatches.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the website that tracks changes in WhatsApp build, the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android adds the ability to make the app compatible with WearOS-powered smartwatches. For the uninitiated, Wear OS is an Android operating system designed for smartwatches, and the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android is finally compatible with it. With this latest update users will be able to stay connected and also access their WhatsApp chats and messages directly from their smartwatch. The report adds that presently the app includes features like chat messaging and voice messages.
WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the feature. As per the report, WhatsApp will prompt you when attempting to link your WhatsApp account to a Wear OS device. To download the app, you need to be a beta tester and the feature is available in update version 2.23.10.10. To connect the smartwatch app to your WhatsApp account, an 8-digit code will be displayed on the watch. You need to enter this code on your device when prompted. Once the code is entered, your chats will be securely synced across all your devices, enabling you to use WhatsApp on your smartwatch. It is important to note that end-to-end encryption is maintained on the smartwatch app, as it relies on multi-device capabilities.
WhatsApp users can now edit sent messages
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has started rolling out the ability to edit sent messages for some beta testers. As reported by WABetaInfo, the messaging app has released the feature to edit sent messages to some of the WhatsApp Web beta testers. According to the report, the ‘edit messages’ option can be found in the menu choices for a text message. After selecting this option, a new window will appear, allowing you to edit the message. If the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you can edit your messages in both individual and group chats for up to 15 minutes, and you can edit them multiple times.
