These WhatsApp users get a new shortcut with beta update – Times of India

WhatsApp has rolled out a beta update that brings in a new shortcut for users. The update brings the version of the app up to 2.21.24.6 and it adds a new shortcut to quickly start a video call while viewing status updates shared by any other user, WABetaInfo reveals. To access the shortcut, you can tap on the three dots icon at the top right corner of the screen while viewing a status update and in the menu, you can spot a “Video call” option. The shortcut is only available for Android devices as of now but it is expected that it will soon be available for iOS users as well.
The platform earlier added a shortcut that allows users to start a voice call with other WhatsApp contacts in the same section. Users who still have the 2.21.23 beta update can get the voice call shortcut. The shortcuts are not yet available on the stable version of the app for Android and iOS platforms.
A feature called message reaction is also under works and has been spotted by several users when the company enabled it by mistake. For that feature, a reaction notification option was also spotted under the Notifications tab in the Settings on iOS app. Now WABetaInfo reveals that the company is also working on reaction notifications for the Android app with the latest beta update.
Earlier this month, the platform added a multi-device feature for all beta users. The feature allows users to access the platform on multiple devices even if there is no connectivity on the main smartphone. Users can link a single WhatsApp account with up to four more devices. The app no longer sends alerts about security code changes every time a new device is linked.
