This is what may have caused Twitter to go down for thousands of users globally – Times of India
Responding to one of the tweets about the downtime, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said that Twitter is working fine for him. “Works for me,” tweeted Musk responding to @BillyM2k and @greg16676935420. Later he said Twitter has rolled out several architecture-level changes and should work faster. “Significant backend server architecture changes rolled out. Twitter should feel faster,” tweeted Musk. The reason for the outage remains unclear as while Musk mentioned significant server changes, he did not mention any glitch during the process.
According to a report in The Guardian, some users who couldn’t access the website were met with a message that read “something went wrong, but don’t fret — it’s not your fault.” But then there is no official confirmation from Twitter. The Twitter Support account and page too have not said anything on the outage so far.
Twitter down: What data says
Twitter was down for several users in the US, India and other countries. According to Downdetector, most users (82%) reported issues with the Twitter website, some 10% with the app and 8% with server connection. As data shows, the problems reportedly varied. Some users claimed that they are not able to refresh their accounts.
Internet observatory NetBlocks too tweeted about the Twitter outage. “Twitter is experiencing international outages affecting the mobile app and features including notifications; incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering #TwitterDown,” tweeted Netblocks.
Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion in October this year. Just days after the buy, he sacked more than half the workforce at the company. Since then the concerns about longer and more regular outages have increased.
