Thomas Tuchel admits Chelsea have Romelu Lukaku problem as striker suffers goal drought
Thomas Tuchel admits Chelsea have a Romelu Lukaku problem, with the striker failing to find the back of the net in his last six games for the club. The Blues shelled out a staggering £97.5million to take Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge this summer.
“We are in the process of adapting to each other,” Tuchel admitted on Tuesday ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Malmo.
“It is my opinion I feel Romelu is a bit overplayed – he played too many games over the summer.”
Lukaku began his second spell in west London in emphatic fashion as he scored on his second debut for the club in their 2-0 Premier League win over Arsenal in August.
He backed that up with a brace against Aston Villa, before heading the only goal of the game to help Chelsea open their Champions League campaign with victory over Zenit St Petersburg.
But the Belgium international has stuttered since then and has now failed to find the back of the net in club colours for over a month.
