Thomas Tuchel urged to find ‘right position’ for Chelsea star with ‘limitless’ potential

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been told by club legend Pat Nevin to do everything he can to bring out the best in one returning player. It comes as the Blues struggle to land their top transfer targets in the summer window.

Kai Havertz has had a tough start to his life at Chelsea but he ended the campaign in the most brilliant fashion – scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final.

Since making his £71m move from Bayer Leverkusen to Stamford Bridge, all eyes have been on the young German prodigy.

But a turgid start was made worse when he contracted coronavirus, which seemingly had a big effect on the attacker.

Under Frank Lampard, Havertz struggled to find a spot in the team but Tuchel has looked to solve that problem by utilising the 22-year-old has a false-nine.

And Chelsea legend Nevin has insisted he cannot wait to see the youngster in action next season.

He told the Chelsea Chronicle: “In reality, the player heads and shoulders above everyone else I’m looking forward to is Kai Havertz.

“Looking at the bits he did at the end of the season; this is the guy who scored the winning goal in the Champions League final.

“He’s beginning to show bits of utter brilliance.

“The possibilities of where he could go are endless, absolutely limitless.

“I just hope this is the season, without any injuries, the confidence grows and we find the right position that suits him.”

It comes as Chelsea struggle to make signings in the transfer window after already missing out on Achraf Hakimi.

Wolves star Adama Traore has been linked with a move while Erling Haaland remains the priority but prising him away from Borussia Dortmund would be tricky.
