Threads’ Latest Update Finally Adds a Followers Tab
Meta has finally added one of the most requested features to its new microblogging app, Threads: a Following tab, allowing you to only see posts from people you are actually following on the app.
The latest update went live yesterday, but there appears to be a gradual rollout of the feature, as many people (myself included) reported they saw the Followers tab appear today after updating the app. Threads launched earlier this month and quickly grew in popularity. But there was criticism over the lack of features the app did not have upon release, the biggest one being the lack of a Followers-only feed. Before today, the only feed on the home page mixed posts from people you follow with those you don’t.
The new Followers feature comes just one day after Elon Musk announced it was rebranding Twitter to X and that the company is retiring the iconic blue bird logo that has been around since the launch of Twitter over a decade ago. It’s the latest controversial change made to the platform since Musk acquired it last October.
Other polarizing decisions made by Musk include sunsetting legacy verified checkmarks in favor of making it a perk for anyone that subscribes to Twitter Blue, widespread staff layoffs, and limits to how much you can Tweet, to name a few.
