Titanic Regains 3rd Spot in the Highest Grossing Movies of All Time List After Re-Release as It Surpasses Avatar: Way of the Water

Cameron vs Cameron has been the talk of the town since the past week. Last week, we saw Avatar: Way of the Water jump to number 3 spot in overseas sales, beating the James Cameron’s Titanic.

Through a report by Variety, we learned that Avatar: Way of the Water has generated $1.538 billion in overseas sales and now falls short to Cameron’s original Avatar and Avengers: Endgame, which have made $2.1 billion and $1.9 billion respectfully.

It was speculated that this would be the week that Avatar: Way of the Water with $1.17 billion surpasses Titanic as the third highest grossing film of all time globally, as it needed only around 20 million to cross Titanic’s $1.19 billion.

Titanic had something different in mind and has brought Avatar 2’s plans to a stop. The film was re-released over the weekend and has managed to rake enough cash to retain its number 3 spot.

According to a report by Forbes, Titanic made over $22 million this weekend. Which still fell short against Avatar: Way of the Waters’ $26 million, but managed to keep Titanic ahead in the race for now.

Cameron vs Cameron wouldn’t be stopping anytime soon, as this battle will be stretched out through the weeks ahead. In the coming weeks, we will learn which Cameron film will finally take the number 3 spot in the highest grossing movies of all time list, Titanic or Avatar: Way of the Water 2.
