Tobey Maguire Says He Wants to Keep Playing Spider-Man: ‘Why Wouldn’t I Want to Do That?’
Tobey Maguire says that he’s all in for another appearance as Spider-Man. He returned to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021 and fans want to see him appear again in the MCU.
In an interview with Marvel about the release of Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special book, Maguire talked about his role and if he would like to reprise his role as Peter Parker in future films.
Maguire said that he is more than happy to return as Spider-Man. He said, “I love these films and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, “Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?” or “Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?” it would be a ‘Yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”
The original Spider-Man trilogy was directed by Sam Raimi, and it had Maguire as the titular character. He became synonymous with the live-action version of Spider-Man when the films came out at the time. However, the franchise was then rebooted twice after the release of 2007’s Spider-Man 3. Andrew Garfield took on the mantle of the the iconic superhero, with Tom Holland later introduced as the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In 2021, it all changed with the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The three Spider-Men were brought together for the first time ever for a multiverse storyline in the film.
