Tokyo Olympics Day 10: Who to watch

Here’s who to watch on day nine:

Canoeing/Kayaking

Three time Olympic medalist Lisa Carrington will start her Olympic campaign in the women’s K1 200m event with heats starting at 12:55pm and quarterfinals at 2.45pm if she qualifies.

Later on, the New Zealand canoe/kayak team of Alicia Hoskin & Teneale Hatton will compete in the women’s K2 500m event heat 2 at 2.15pm

Cycling

Bryony Botha, Rushlee Buchanan, Holly Edmondston, Kirstie James and Jaime Nielsen are set to compete in the women’s team pursuit track cycling event at the Izu Velodrome at 6.54pm.

The men’s track cycling team of Aaron Gate, Regan Gough, Jordan Kerby, Campbell Stewart and Corbin Strong are set to compete in the 4000m team pursuit event at 8.02pm.

Sailing

America’s Cup winning duo of Blair Tuke and Peter Burling are set to take to the water for the 49er sailing class medal race event at 6.30pm.

Tuke and Burling go into the medal race sitting in 1st place as they look to repeat their Rio 2016 gold medal winning efforts.

Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Wilcox will head into Race 9 and 10 of the 470 men’s class at 5.30pm in 4th place overall after finishing 8th in race 8 of the 470 men’s class yesterday

Diving

Anton Down-Jenkins is scheduled to compete in the men’s 3m springboard diving event preliminaries starting at 6pm – Down-Jenkins will be the 15th athlete to dive.

Weightlifting

Kanah Andrews-Nahu will compete in the women’s 87kg weightlifting event at 2.50pm while Laurel Hubbard is set to compete in the women’s +87kg weightlifting medal event at 10.50pm.

Equestrian – eventing

Jonelle Price, Jesse Campbell and Tim Price will compete in the equestrian eventing show jumping team final and individual qualifier event starting at 8pm.

The trio will also compete individually in the showjumping individual final at 11:45pm.

Hockey

After losing 3-2 to China in their final Pool B game, the Black Sticks women will take on the Netherlands in a daunting quarterfinal at 9.30pm.
