Tomb Raider Netflix Anime Reportedly Casts Sex Education Star for Season 2

Around two years ago, a Tomb Raider anime series was announced by streaming giants, Netflix. The upcoming show is part of Netflix’s growing attempts at adapting video games. The list currently features hits like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, The Witcher, Arcane, and more.

Not much has been revealed about the Tomb Raider series, with no release window unveiled just yet. However, there’s some casting news, with MCU and Mission: Impossible star Hayley Atwell voicing the iconic protagonist in Lara Croft.

Furthermore, the voice cast has since grown with the addition of Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon playing Zip and Jonah Maiava, respectively. While Season 1 hasn’t dropped yet, it seems like the show has gained Netflix’s confidence, as it’s already been renewed for Season 2.

To make matters more interesting, the series will add an exciting star to its voice cast in Season 2. The star in question is none other than Sex Education star, Ncuti Gatwa.

According to Gatwa’s Spotlight page (via What’s on Netflix), the actor will be part of Tomb Raider Season 2. The page suggests that the 15th Doctor Who will play the role of Eshu, which seems to be an original character.

The upcoming anime series will follow the events of the reboot trilogy of video games, developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. The developers are also working on a new game, with Amazon Games acting as publishing partners. The franchise has since been brought by Amazon for $600 million, reportedly. Additionally, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also working on a Lara Croft-led series.
