Harry Kane looks set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur after talks with Manchester City broke down – but club officials believe even offering him a club-record wage won’t tempt the striker to stay in the long-run.
Kane, 28, has scored 166 Premier League goals in 233 appearances for Spurs; announcing himself as the club’s all-time leading scorer, as he looks to break the Premier League record Alan Shearer set with 260.
Just 95 goals off breaking the record, Kane needs the best service he can get in order to boast that record, and will be hoping to win trophies along the way.
And having signalled a desire to win trophies, Kane made his intentions clear that he wanted to leave Spurs – who are notoriously bad for never winning silverware.
The England captain has been linked with a move away from Spurs throughout his career, and it was thought that Manchester City’s interest in him this summer would finally spell his exit from north London.
But after Daniel Levy wasn’t able to agree a fee with City with just a week to go before the deadline, Kane has realised he will more than likely stay at Spurs – and he is ready to take drastic action and shatter the club’s wage structure.

But with Kane hungry for trophies, they are wary that he may well turn down the money and decide to focus on accolades instead.
With City desperate for a striker, they have turned their attentions elsewhere; with reported interest in former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo won the Champions League and three Premier League titles in his time at United – but Red Devils fans will be hoping he doesn’t repeat the feat at the Etihad Stadium.
