Tottenham keep or sell as Postecoglou faces tough transfer calls with 14 stars
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has plenty of big decisions to make in his first few days as the club’s new head coach. Many are predicting that the former Celtic tactician will make sweeping changes at the north London outfit, including an overhaul of his squad. Express Sport takes a look at 14 players whose futures are in doubt…
Hugo Lloris: SELL – The Frenchman has one year left on his contract and it would be the perfect time to part ways with a goalkeeper whose powers have significantly waned.
Davinson Sanchez: SELL – Sanchez should have been moved on several years ago, and now is the right time to let the Colombian leave to raise funds for Postecoglou’s own targets.
Ivan Perisic: KEEP – Postecoglou has a young squad and will need to lean on the experience of the likes of Perisic. He might not play as much, but the Croatian’s know-how could be beneficial.
Eric Dier: KEEP – Spurs have just about filled their quota of British players in their 25-man Premier League squads in recent years. Dier fits that profile and his versatility could be useful to the incoming head coach.
Emerson Royal: KEEP – Emerson showed glimpses of being a top right-back last season. He will play second-fiddle to Pedro Porro but his quality will be valuable.
Japhet Tanganga: SELL – While Spurs must keep together their core of British talent, it seems likely that defender Tanganga could go to raise funds.
Djed Spence: SELL – Spence should depart but with the condition that it is only a loan. The speedy England U21 star has a big future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Sergio Reguilon: SELL – Spanish full-back Reguilon will return from a loan with Atletico Madrid this summer. He seemingly has no future at Spurs.
Ryan Sessegnon: KEEP – Sessegnon could yet blossom into an excellent full-back and should be kept at the club.
Giovani Lo Celso: SELL – Spurs could recoup a decent fee for Lo Celso, who spent last season on loan at Villarreal. Aston Villa are reportedly interested in a move.
Harry Winks: SELL – Winks should be allowed to kickstart his career after an injury-hit temporary spell with Fiorentina.
Tanguy Ndombele: KEEP – Postecoglou could be the man to get the best out of the incredibly talented Ndombele.
Bryan Gil: SELL – A tidy winger, Gil has struggled for consistency in the Premier League and could earn Spurs a sizeable transfer fee this summer.
Harry Kane: KEEP – Postecoglou would surely rather have Kane at the club, and may even have sought assurances that interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid would be batted away. But it may not come down to the Australian’s decision…
