Tottenham may still have three back-up options as £25m Adama Traore transfer stalls
Tottenham might have to look elsewhere in their attempts to sign a right wing-back after running into trouble trying to sign Adama Traore. Despite appearing to close in on a transfer, talks have since stalled.
Tottenham’s transfer window has hardly been a success despite Antonio Conte demanding some reinforcements.
A midfielder and a right wing-back have been top of the wish list but neither has come to fruition yet – despite big interest in plenty of targets.
One of the main players being eyed is Wolves ace Traore, who is reportedly interested in working under the Spurs boss.
With 18 months left on his contract at the Molineux, a transfer had been on the cards but despite heavy speculation all negotiations have stalled.
Time is running out and Tottenham might have to look elsewhere – so could they sign instead?
Tariq Lamptey
The next big target on Spurs’ list is Brighton star Lamptey, who has been blowing teams away with his searing pace on the right-hand side.
Most recently, he gave his former side Chelsea a run for their money after torching Marcos Alonso on the flank – a team that have beaten Tottenham four times this season.
Manchester United are also in for the Englishman but Spurs are ahead of the queue and there is mutual interest meaning a deal could be in the offing.
Djed Spence
Another player to give their rivals hell recently is Spence, on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough.
The defender destroyed Arsenal in the FA Cup, which has alerted the attention of both north London sides and it could be a battle to prise him away from the Riverside.
However, any deal would likely have to go ahead in the summer after his loan spell was recently continued under Steve Cooper.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Ralf Rangnick does not appear to rate Wan-Bissaka, who has been dropped in favour of Diogo Dalot, and a transfer away could be the best option for the defender.
His career has somewhat stalled after a brilliant start to life at Old Trafford and a change of scenery might be what the former Crystal Palace star needs.
At 24, this would be the ideal age for Conte – who could mould the player into his image as the ideal right wing-back – while his work-rate and determination makes him an easy pick for Spurs.
