Tottenham ‘on verge of £20m Adama Traore transfer agreement’ with Wolves

Adama Traore’s move to Tottenham seems to be edging ever closer according to reports, with the Spanish star warranting a fee of £20million as his transfer comes to fruition.

Traore has been a mainstay in the Wolves side ever since his move in 2018, signing from Middlesbrough.

Renowned for his flash pace, the Spaniard has become one of Molineux’s most coveted stars, being noted for his superb dribbling and strength.

This odd combination for a winger had seen him linked with Tottenham whilst former Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo was manager, although links appeared to fade when the Portuguese was sacked after three months.

But with Conte continuing Tottenham’s interest in Traore, a deal has reportedly been sanctioned, with the Athletic stating that Traore is almost on route to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The report states that Traore has no intention of signing a new deal with just 18 months left on his contract.

Wolves rejected a bid of £15m earlier in the week, with club officials quoting the Lilywhites a fee of £20m for his services.

Molineux chiefs believe an agreement will be reached, in which they could reinvest that into other areas.

And given Spurs’ frailties down the right-hand side, a deal has been expedited to happen as soon as possible.

Conte made his stance on transfers known earlier this week as he looks to strengthen his side.

“I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players,” he said.

“In January, it is not easy but at the same time, we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it’s not the best opportunity, but we need to do something.

“Also if I repeat that this could not be the best opportunity but I think that we are in a situation where we have to try to improve the squad because the squad is not so big.”

The Lilywhites currently lie fifth in the Premier League after the dismantling of Leicester on Wednesday.

Steven Bergwijn’s dramatic 95th and 96th minute goals recorded an outstanding 3-2 win in the midlands to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

And they face Chelsea at the weekend in a bid to continue their good spell of form.
