Tottenham appear to be closing in on the appointment of Ange Postecoglou with a contract reportedly agreed between the two parties, but Celtic could still put a stop to the switch. Spurs have been without a permanent manager now for nearly three months after Antonio Conte was sacked in March.
A host of managers were being linked with the vacant post at Tottenham, but were initially frustrated in their original plans. Julian Nagelsmann was the first to reportedly decide against taking over at Spurs with Xabi Alonso, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany also turning down an approach.
Tottenham have since turned their attention elsewhere with Celtic boss Postecoglou emerging as the frontrunner. Celtic clinched the domestic treble at the weekend with their 3-1 victory over Inverness in the Scottish Cup.
That looks set to be Postecoglou’s final game in charge of Celtic with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming a ‘verbal agreement’ has been made on a contract with Tottenham.
