Tottenham ‘receive official £60m Harry Kane bid’ as Levy’s worst fears realised

Manchester United were heavily linked with Kane earlier this summer. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has long been thought to favour selling the striker to an overseas club.

Kane reportedly has admirers at Real Madrid, but Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern have struck the first blow by submitting an official bid for the 29-year-old. According to The Athletic, the proposal is worth £60million plus add-ons.

It remains to be seen whether Levy will bite at that price, given that Kane is creeping towards his 30th birthday and will be at liberty to leave for free next summer.

The Spurs star is currently on 213 Premier League goals and he was thought to be keen on sticking around to hunt down Alan Sharer, who sits 47 ahead in the all-time charts. However, a lack of silverware may tempt Kane to pursue a new challenge.

The prolific forward has never won a trophy at club or international level, while Bayern are serial winners in the Bundesliga. Tuchel’s side will also be viewed as major contenders in next season’s Champions League.

Tottenham have been linked with the likes of Randal Kolo Muani and Evan Ferguson as they shop around for Kane’s replacement. Current Spurs stars Heung-min Son and Richarlison could also be asked to step up and fill the void.

Manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly closing in on his first new arrival of the summer, with progress made regarding an agreement for outgoing Leicester City star James Maddison.
