Tottenham set to lose four stars for Newcastle clash amid international talks

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo faces a blow in his quest to improve his side’s form as he could be without four stars for Spurs’ trip to Newcastle following the international break, according to reports.

The North Londoners suffered three consecutive Premier League defeats before they beat Aston Villa on Sunday.

Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal each scored three goals in their wins over Spurs. It heaped pressure on Nuno to turn around the club’s form despite an impressive first three matches.

Spurs had won each of their opening trio of fixtures, including an incredible opening day victory over Manchester City.

The victory over Villa has at least offered some respite but Nuno appears to have now suffered a further blow.

Travel and quarantine restrictions mean that Nuno might be without his South American players for their trip to Newcastle following the international break.

That was because they spent 10 days training in Croatia, a green-list country, to avoid being forced into a UK quarantine hotel.

Missing all three players against the Magpies would be a huge blow for Nuno.

New right-back Royal, signed from Barcelona on deadline day, has impressed in his appearances so far.

Romero has settled in well since his loan from Atalanta was sealed, while Sanchez has made strides under Nuno.

The Portuguese boss was unhappy with players going away to red-list countries during the September international break but has already confirmed that they will travel this week.

“They will go and they will return and they will return on different situations,” Nuno said after his side defeated Villa.

“They will have to isolate, but we are fortunate enough to have the Lodge and work normally with the team.”
