Transformers One, the first animated Transformers film in over 40 years, has added Chris Hemsworth as a young Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as a young Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, and more.
Transformers One, which will be released in theaters on July 19, 2024, is directed by Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley and will serve as a prequel film of sorts about younger versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Joining the previously mentioned cast members will also be Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.
The last animated film in the beloved franchise was 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie, which itself was based on the Transformers television series.
The film was reported to have been greenlit by Paramount back in 2020 and was said to take place on Cybertron, “place on Cybertron, the planet from which the good-guy and bad-guy robots came from. The film revolves around the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.”
This news follows a brand-new trailer for Transformers: Rise of Beasts, which will be released in theaters on June 9, 2023.
