Truecaller: Siri comes to Truecaller on iPhones, here’s how – Times of India

Swedish caller ID detection platform Truecaller has rolled out a new update for iPhone users. The latest update claims to offer an improved and more secure communication experience for iPhone users worldwide. With this update, the Live Caller ID experience will be available to iPhone users for the first time. The feature will use a Siri shortcut to notify users about the person who is calling them.
Truecaller update for iPhones: Live Caller ID via Siri
Truecaller has introduced a Live Caller ID experience on iPhone by integrating with the iOS virtual assistant, Siri. Now, whenever an iPhone user receives an incoming call from an unknown number, they can activate Truecaller with their voice by saying “Hey Siri, Search Truecaller“.
The app will then capture the number, find out more information about the caller, and show it on top of the calling screen. This new feature will be available exclusively to premium subscribers of Truecaller on devices running iOS 16 and newer. It leverages Siri Shortcuts and App Intents to deliver its results.
This update claims to offer more convenience to users who access Truecaller on iPhone. Apple users will no longer have to manually search for numbers or copy-paste into the widget. Moreover, Live Caller ID with Siri will search the entire Truecaller database, to offer the same quality of information as Truecaller on Android.
How to setup Truecaller Live Caller ID on iPhone:
Users have to go to the Premium tab within the app and click on ‘Add to Siri’. This will help users to add the shortcut with one tap. After using the feature for the first time, users will be asked to allow access to Truecaller. Then users have to choose the ‘Always allow’ option to get this prompt again
After setting up the Siri shortcut, whenever iPhone users get an incoming call, they have to say ‘Hey Siri, search Truecaller’ and Truecaller will tell them who is calling.

Other new features
As a part of this new update, Truecaller also claims to have enhanced its spam detection capabilities to better identify and protect users from spam calls. Premium subscribers will receive automatic updates to the spam list, while free users will be able to manually update the spam list to ensure secure communication.
This update also introduces an important community-based feature, the ability to view and add comments on spam-marked numbers. To be able to view user feedback on a spammer, the app will provide more context into the true nature of the spammer. It will also enable users to report on their own experience which will further enhance Truecaller’s spam detection capabilities with community input.
With this feature, incoming SMS messages will be automatically categorised into different categories like — Finance, Orders, Reminders, Coupons, Offers and Junk. This feature is now live for iOS 16 and above users in India, South Africa and Nigeria and will soon be rolled out to other countries.
