Twitter launches campaign for cricket fans – Times of India

Twitter has good news for cricket lovers in the country. With the upcoming Cricket season, the microblogging platform has launched a global campaign called the #CricketTwitter. The campaign will kick-start today with a custom emoji that anyone on Twitter can activate by tweeting with hashtags like #CricketTwitter. The hashtag is supported in other Indian languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

As part of the campaign, Twitter will create a dedicated event page for all upcoming cricket league seasons. Users will be able to follow the latest updates from the games in one place at these event pages.
Cricket fans will be able to stay tuned into what their favourite teams, players and experts are tweeting. They will also be able to view premium video content from Twitter’s partners. The company has partnered with several publishers and broadcasters to bring exclusive sports content to audiences on the service. “People can tune-in for highlights, in-match clips and more to enjoy a second-screen experience #OnlyOnTwitter,” the company says.
Twitter, as part of the campaign, has introduced Cricket Topic for fans. It will use machine learning to deliver interest-specific tweets to people’s timeline. The Twitter List, on the other hand will allow users to put together several accounts that tweet about Cricket.
“People can put together their own Lists, or follow existing Lists like these from Twitter Moments India (@MomentsIndia) – Cricket, India Cricket, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Delhi Capitals IPL team, Chennai Super Kings Team, among others,” Twitter says.
In addition, users will be able to host or join an ongoing cricket Space to discuss their favourite matches while they’re happening live, talk about a recent update from the cricket universe or to just remember and re-live memorable matches.
