Twitter may put new DM-related restrictions on non-Blue users: What it means for users – Times of India

Micro-blogging site Twitter is reportedly planning to limit the number of direct messages (DMs) non-paid users can send in a day. A Twitter user named Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot to show how non-Blue users on the social media platform will be restricted to send DMs after they cross their daily limit. According to the screenshot shared by Paluzzi, users who have not paid for Twitter Bluesubscriptions will receive a message titled “Get verified to send more messages”.The message will read: “You’ve hit the maximum limit for Direct Messages in a single day. Sign up for Twitter Blue to continue messaging.”

What it means for users
The tweet shared by Paluzzi also noted that Twitter currently allows non-paid users to send 500 DMs per day. He also mentioned that the social media platform may reduce the DM limit when this rumoured rule rolls out.
Ex-Twitter CEO Elon Musk has also said that the platform will “hopefully” roll out a new update this week. This update is expected to limit the ability to send DMs to people who don’t follow you to Blue users.
Last week, Musk also mentioned that Twitter will soon start paying creators on the platform. The payment will be for the ads served in their replies.
