Twitter tests new direct messages UI design for Android – Times of India

Twitter has been currently testing multiple new features that will offer an improved experience for its microblogging platform. Earlier, Twitter announced an edit button and now the company is testing this feature with paid Twitter Blue members. Recently, the company also expanded the redesigned Spaces tab for Android users which was previously available for iPhone users. The new Spaces tab is currently available for Twitter Blue users and even includes — audio stations, podcasts and more.
Apart from this, the microblogging site is now testing a redesigned UI for direct messages on its Android app. A Twitter user named Max Jambor has shared screenshots showing the new UI design. The company has not made any official announcement about testing this new design.

Twitter has also not shared any information about when this new direct messages UI design will be available for all users. The new design has reportedly started rolling out for some limited tests.

How does the new design look
The existing design places the message typing area along with the other options — image attachment, GIF search and the send button are all cramped up in a single line.
However, the new design seems to have separated the message typing area and has placed the text box a bit higher than the other buttons. The new UI design has also added a bottom box that encloses the separated text typing area and the remaining buttons. This new look is very much in line with Android’s recent design.

Twitter has used Google’s Jetpack Compose tools to build this new design, reports 9to5Google. The company reportedly started testing the new UI design in June.
