Two Man Utd stars complicate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer transfer thinking after Derby win

While there is huge focus on who arrives through the door at Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been reminded that the club still possesses some of the brightest young talent in the land. The Red Devils boss was not shy to cast his eye over the club’s youth players this afternoon at Derby, a match United won 2-1 in the scorching heat.

In fact, with a large number of his players still away resting up following international duty, Solskjaer now has plenty to ponder before the season kicks off in August.

United are clearly set on adding several marquee additions to their squad this summer to follow Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho.

He is expected to return to Alaves for more senior minutes with Sancho, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Daniel James and even Amad ahead of him in the pecking order.

Pellistri’s performance though may just create a fraction of doubt in Solskjaer’s mind, is the highly-rated wonderkid worth keeping around Carrington?

Furthermore, Brandon Williams also impressed as he came out fighting to stake his claim that he deserves to stay at the club.

Southampton and Newcastle are two teams who would be interested in a loan and the Saints have already discussed a deal.

Roma are believed to be interested in taking Alex Telles on loan but United have made it clear they want to keep him.

Williams, therefore, remains third in the pecking order at left-back, meaning opportunities will be sparse.

Yet his tenacity, desire and commitment was evident against Derby in what was supposed to be a chance to dust off the cobwebs.

The young full-back didn’t see it as that, he instead wanted to prove he should stay at United and that he can play a part this season.

Realistically, both Pellistri and Williams’ future remains out of their hands but their performances and outlook on today’s match deserves credit. It was an opportunity they grasped with both hands…
