Ubisoft’s XDefiant Already Has Cheats and Hacks in Its Beta Testing Phase, Leaving Players Frustrated
Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person shooter, XDefiant, is currently in beta. However, even before its full release, some players are already using cheats to exploit the game’s multiplayer modes. A video has surfaced online, showcasing a hacker effortlessly eliminating other players using these cheats. Whether in beta or not, cheating undoubtedly leads to frustration among players. Therefore, it is crucial for this 6v6 arcade FPS game to implement an anti-cheat solution as soon as possible.
The game being PvP-centric means that there will always be individuals attempting to discover hacks or cheats to disrupt the gameplay and get easy kills. YouTube user SGTSkully recently uploaded a video (as spotted by Game Watcher) showcasing a cheat in XDefiant that grants the player the ability to see outlines of every opponent, allowing bullets to penetrate walls and other barriers.
The blatant cheat discovered at such an early stage in the game’s release presents an opportunity for developers to address the issue before the game is fully launched. However, it also creates a sense of reluctance among players to invest their time in a game that has already been exploited, raising concerns about the effectiveness of Ubisoft’s anti-cheat solution in preventing such situations from arising in the first place.
To make things worse, XDefiant currently lacks a reporting system for players to report suspicious gameplay or individuals clearly hacking and cheating. The absence of a kill cam also leaves players uncertain as to whether their elimination was legitimate or if foul play was involved.
As mentioned above, the game is currently in its beta testing, so hopefully, there is a rigid system in place soon before the game fully launches in Summer 2023.
