Valorant and PUBG Mobile Top Esports Titles, China Still Dominating Esports Market: Report
Niko Partners has just released its latest Esports in Asia and MENA report, which gives a detailed look and analysis of the growth of esports in India and other Asian countries, as well as the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Here are the key takeaways from the report, offering a look at the pace of growth for esports in India and other regions.
For starters, the Asia and MENA regions account for over 56% of the global esports market. It is estimated that the global esports market is worth $1.3 billion.
China continues to be the largest esports market in Asia and MENA. Out of the 56%, China has a 34.2% share of the esports market. The country generates $445 million in esports revenue, as compared to India’s $22.3 million in revenue.
China also recorded an audience of 400.2 million esports fans in 2022. However, there has been a decline in the esports audience in China. The audience declined by 7.8% in 2022.
As for viewership, there has been a combined 17.4% increase in viewership in other ten markets of Asia led by India, Japan, and Southeast Asia. There were around 742 million esports fans in Asia and MENA in 2022.
Regulation, national excitement, and a shifting investment landscape have been cited by Niko Partners’ report as key factors behind the changes in the esports market in 2022.
Valorant, Dota 2, and League of Legends are the top PC esports titles in Asia and MENA, as per the report. Apex Legends was also mentioned for considerable growth, particularly in Japan.
As for mobile titles, PUBG Mobile (BGMI/Peacekeeper Elite), League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang are the top esports games.
