Valorant Launches Swiftplay Beta with Patch 5.12; Here’s All You Need to Know About the New Mode and Update
Riot Games has just announced the launch of the beta version of Valorant’s newest mode called Swiftplay. Like the name suggests, Swiftplay is a shorter format for players to try out in Riot Games’ hit shooter title. The beta arrives alongside Patch 5.12, and it will be available to try out until January 10, 2023.
As mentioned in the patch notes, Swiftplay is a condensed version of the standard 5v5 Unrated mode. However, instead of teams needing to win 13 rounds, the new mode only requires you to reach 5 round wins first. This allows the game mode to only run for around 15 minutes.
The mode consists of two four-round halves, with a single spike carrier in play. Just like Unrated mode, weapons and Credits carryover is supported. Furthermore, players earn 2 Ult points at the start of each half.
Judging by the rules of Swiftplay, the new mode can become a fan favorite among Valorant community members, who don’t want to spend around an hour for every match. It will be interesting to see how the game’s fandom reacts to it.
