vettel: How F1 driver Sebastian Vettel used Find My to chase thieves and track his lost AirPods – Times of India

If you thought that it was just ‘regular’ folks who used the Find My app from Apple to track their lost products, then you were wrong. According to a report by Apple Insider, Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel used the Find My app to locate his AirPods.
Vettel was in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix and a day after the race was in town in his Aston Martin. The former F1 champion stopped outside a hotel when thieves stole a backpack from his car.
The report says that the four-time F1 champion didn’t reach out to the police. Instead, he took an electric scooter and used the Find My app to track the bag as his AirPods were inside. The police did join Vettel on the chase but urged him to file a complaint instead.
Vettel’s backpack — apart from the AirPods — had a lot of other personal items. His passport, driver’s license, and credit cards all were inside the bag.
“Eventually, the driver was led to a haberdashery, where he found the AirPods left in a vase of flowers in a shop display,” the report stated. The thieves had apparently figured out that they were being tracked so they left behind the AirPods.
The thieves haven’t been tracked down and Vettel’s backpack too is missing. However, the AirPods were recovered, thanks to the Find My app. The Find My app can be used to track Apple devices and works across iPhone, AirPods, Apple Watch, and MacBook.
