Vinicius Jr meets Real Madrid president Perez as star ‘considers exit’

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted Vinicius Junior held a meeting with president Florentino Perez to discuss his situation at the club as La Liga’s latest racism storm continues to rage on. The Brazilian star was allegedly subjected to racist abuse from Valencia fans before and during their 1-0 defeat on Sunday and Ancelotti has responded after reports emerged the forward is considering his future with the club.

The 23-year-old is believed to be seriously considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu after the latest in a long line of racism-related incidents where the Madrid attacker has been targeted by opposition fans.

He was sent off in stoppage time after reacting angrily to Valencia’s Hugo Duro and now faces a ban, despite appearing to have been on the receiving end of horrendous racist insults inside the stadium.

Ahead of their match with Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, Ancelotti confirmed that the attacker had spoken with Florentino Perez after requesting a meeting with the president in the aftermath of the racism row, which continues to divide Spanish football.

The Italian boss insisted that Vinicius enjoys playing for the club and also lifted the lid on how he and his team-mates reacted following Sunday’s game.

“Vinicius met with Florentino Perez yesterday, he knows he is supported by the club and team-mates,” he told reporters in a news conference.

“Of course I talked to him after the game, obviously he was very sad but he knows he has the support of the whole world and not only the support of Real Madrid, he has received from his rivals, his team-mates, football legends. So in this respect he’s very calm.”
