Vodafone Idea discontinues recently launched Rs 549 prepaid plan – Times of India
Vodafone-Idea keeps introducing new prepaid plans to lure more customers and gain more user base. To achieve that, the telecom service provider recently announced the Rs 549 prepaid plan which is basically a validity plan with 180 days of validity. Other than that, the plan offers Rs 549 talktime at the rate of 2.5 paise per minute.
TelecomTalk has now reported that Vodafone-Idea has removed the Rs 549 prepaid plan. According to the report, the plan has been removed from both the company’s website as well as mobile app.
Why Vodafone-Idea has removed the recently launched prepaid plan
Vodafone-Idea hasn’t provided any reason behind it and has removed the prepaid plan silently. However, there could be several reasons behind it and one of them could be the benefit the plan was offering.
The Rs 549 prepaid plan used to offer 180 days validity along with Rs 549 talktime and that’s it. No OTT benefits, SMS, unlimited calling or data was on offer. While, the plan was solely aimed at offering users the option to add validity to their number and keep the SIM active and it would have helped Vi retain customers, but the long-term retention was a little dicey.
This could be the main reason behind the telco’s decision of removing the prepaid plan from its portfolio.
Another reason we could think of is that users usually look for added benefits when choosing a plan and apart from the 6 months validity, the plan did not include any other benefit.
This wasn’t the only plan Vodafone-idea introduced recently. The telecom operator has also announced Rs 368 and Rs 369 prepaid plans. The plans offer similar benefits such as unlimited calling, 2GB daily data, 100 SMS per day and 30 days validity along with t Vi Hero unlimited benefits. The only difference between the two plans is that the Rs 368 plan comes with SunNxt subscription, while the Rs 369 plan includes SonyLiv subscription.
