Volvo Cars India has finally launched its first electric car in the country by pulling off the veils from XC Recharge electric SUV. The company hosted a VolvoVerse event inspired by Metaverse technology to launch the XC40 Recharge. The new electric SUV is an electric incarnation of the XC40 ICE model.

Even though the premium Volvo XC40 Recharge is the first fully electric EV from the Sweden manufacturer, it will compete against the previously launched Kia EV6, Audi e-Tron, and Jaguar i-Pace in India.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Specs

The new Volvo XC40 Recharge looks more like its ICE counterpart but with a few changes. The new electric SUV sports a white-finished face ditching the front grilles. It features aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels with body cladding.

Volvo XC40 Recharge ships packed with a 78kWh battery setup and a 150kW electric motor generating 408hp power and 660Nm of peak torque. It accelerates from zero to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds and reaches 180kmph of top speed. The battery charges itself from 10% to 80% in 33 minutes with the 150kW DC fast charger.
