Wargroove 2 Announced For PC and Nintendo Switch
Publisher Chucklefish is taking another turn at strategy by revealing Wargroove 2 for PC and Nintendo Switch. No release window has been given for the sequel, though the game will be made in collaboration with developer Robotality (makers of Pathway and Halfway).
Wargroove 2’s announcement trailer focuses on the pirate Nadia, who’s presumably one of the new commanders for the game. She also rocks a rad flamethrower in the turn-based battles for the sequel. According to her, random strangers are causing trouble on the shores of Aurania, and it’s up to players to tactically tackle the problem.
The sequel will feature three campaign arcs that tie into a finale, with new commanders and five added unit types available for the turn-based battles. Chucklefish also notes there’s a tiered Groove system this time to power up commanders.
Other additions for Wargroove 2 include a roguelike mode called Conquest and improvements to the map, campaign, and cutscene editors. The sequel will also bring back co-op and multiplayer modes.
Finishing Wargroove won’t be necessary for engaging with the sequel, according to Chucklefish. For more on that title, be sure to check out GameSpot’s Wargroove review.
The series is inspired by Nintendo’s Advanced Wars franchise. After a lengthy delay, Advanced Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will launch April 8 on Switch.
