Watch: Air-borne Suryakumar plucks a screamer in slip cordon to dismiss Finn Allen | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India decimated New Zealand by 168 runs in the series-deciding third T20I in Ahmedabad, sealing the series 2-1. After Shubman Gill delighted the crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium with his maiden T20I ton, the bowlers and the fielders were too on song as Hardik Pandya and co. bowled out the Kiwis for 66 in 12.1 overs.
The Indian players were like a live wire on the field when they came out to defend the total. The vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav led the way with a spectacular catch in the very first over of the Blackcaps chase.
In the absence of Gill, who usually stands in the slip cordon but did not come out to field, Surya took his place and grabbed a screamer on the fifth ball of the chase to get rid of opener Finn Allen.
As Allen edged a Hardik Pandya delivery, it looked as if the ball would comfortably go over the slip cordon. But Surya, at the widish first slip, timed his jump to perfection and grabbed a terrific catch mid-air. He then landed safely on his shoulder to complete the superb effort.

Surya followed the exceptional effort with two more terrific catches. His second catch that of Glenn Phillips too was similar to his outstanding first catch at the same first slip spot. He then caught his third catch of the evening at the deep fence when he grabbed the ball to perfection, inches away from the boundary rope to get rid of Kiwi skipper Mitchell Santner.
The dominating performance from the Indians in all the three departments helped the team record their biggest win in T20Is.
