Watch: Marnus Labuschagne’s on-field cigarette signal leaves everyone puzzled | Cricket News – Times of India
While batting on the opening day of the Pink Test, Labuschagne, out of nowhere, asked for a lighter with fingers on his mouth gesture.
The bizarre scenes even left commentators puzzled along with the fans.
“No, he’s not asking for cigarettes, he’s asking for a lighter,” commentator Isha Guha said on air.
“That was the most remarkable signal I’ve seen in world cricket for a cigarette lighter for a non-smoker,” Kerry O’Keeffe responded to Isha’s comments.

As the events unfolded subsequently, it turned out Labuschagne was facing some issue with the helmet visor and was asking for the lighter to fix it.
Labuschagne’s stay in the middle eventually ended on 79 by Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje.
Australia were 147 for 2 at Stumps as only 47 overs could be bowled on Day 1 of the Sydney Test due to bad light.
