Aurelien Tchouameni once again proved to be pivotal for France in their 2-1 win vs England in the FIFA World Cup 2022 quarter-finals, at the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar on Sunday. Other than France’s winning display, Tchouameni also scored a brilliant goal which could prove to be a goal of the tournament contender. With France going on the counter,Kylian Mbappe glided past Declan Rice and then switched to his right, with Antoine Griezmann pulling it back for Tchouameni. After the quarter-final win, France will face Morocco in the semi-finals. They have reached the World Cup semi-final for the seventh time and it is also the first time they have done so in consecutive editions of the competitions since 1982/1986. This also marked the seventh time England have been eliminated from the quarter-final round of the World Cup, more than any other side in the history of the competition.

The result was also Didier Deschanmps’ 13th World Cup win in just his 17th match-in charge of France (Draw 2, Loss 2). Only Felipe Scolari (14) and Helmut Schon (16) grabbed more wins in the competition. The other semi-final in Qatar is between Argentina and Croatia.
