WATCH: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan receive debut caps from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India’s young batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan were handed debut caps during the opening Test against the West Indies on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Yashasvi, who had an astonishing IPL 2023 season, received his debut Test cap from his Mumbai senior and India captain Rohit Sharma. Ishan got the coveted cap from the run machine Virat Kohli.
While Yashasvi will open the batting alongside India captain Rohit, the wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan will be seen in the middle order. Yashasvi was also selected as a stand-by player for the World Test Championship Final against Australia which India lost by 209 runs.

Talking about debutants Yashasvi and Ishan, Rohit, during the toss, said: “Just want them to enjoy. They will have nerves but it’s our responsibility to make sure they enjoy it. Those guys have the potential and I hope we can give them all the comfort and happiness they need on the ground.”
