Philadelphia Union
In order to win games, you need to be able to defend well and not give up many goals and that is what Philadelphia Union does. They have played 22 games as of this writing and allowed 15 total goals and are the only team in the sport that is allowing under one goal per game. They also do a great job as a team as they have the third-best accurate shot percentage at 39 percent and dominating with shots on target.
One of their best players is goaltkeeper Andre Blake as he is the only player to be inside of the net this season. He has an 11-2-9 so far and has allowed 15 total goals and an 81.9 save percentage up to this point. Allowing an outstanding 0.68 goals per game. He should be the absolute favorite to win the 2022 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award and having an outstanding defensive team is crtical to winning and I would definitely take a flyer, but the ability to not score enough goals against tough competition sends me a little bit of concern.

There are some incredible franchises throughout the Major League Soccer and having an all-around solid team is going to be the difference between being a force in the MLS Cup Playoffs and going out on a bit of a whimper.
Being able to prevent goals is definitely one of the biggest ways to ensure that you are going to win soccer matches and get a great seeding, but you need to be able to score a goal or two against stiff competition if you want to pick up wins and get a couple of points in the standings.
