‘What truly impressed me about Shubman..’: Sachin praises GT opener

Being an unpredictable game, cricket is a sport that stiches together new and old legends. With both legends Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev praised Indian opener Shubman Gill recently for his impeccable performance in the current Indian Premier League, another legend Sachin Tendulkar too has lauded the Gujarat Titans.

Impressed with Gill’s performance, Sachin praised Gill for his remarkable temperament, unwavering calmness, hunger for runs and astute running between the wickets.

Taking to Twitter, Sachin wrote, “Shubman Gill’s performance this season has been nothing short of unforgettable, marked by two centuries that left an indelible impact. One century ignited @mipaltan’s hopes, while the other dealt them a crushing blow. Such is the unpredictable nature of cricket!”

Adding more, the ‘God of Cricket’ said, “What truly impressed me about Shubman’s batting was his remarkable temperament, unwavering calmness, hunger for runs and astute running between the wickets.”

Remembering the GT’s last match with Mumbai Indians, where Gill scored a whopping 129 runs in just 60 balls — including 7 fours and 10 sixes, Sachin said, “It was a display of his capacity to seize momentum and make a profound impact on the game.”

Though Sachin added that Mumbai briefly got back into the game with Tilak Verma’s blistering 24 runs against Mohammed Shami and were alive till Suryakumar Yadav got out.

Sharing his thoughts on Sunday’s IPL final between GT and CSK, Sachin wrote, “Gujarat are a formidable side and the wickets of @ShubmanGill, @hardikpandya7 & @DavidMillerSA12 will be key for Chennai tonight. ChennaiIPL also bat deep with @msdhoni coming in as low as number 8, hence it could be a case of one team out-batting the other. It’s going to be an interesting Final to watch.”

Considering Dhoni’s CSK featuring in his 11th IPL final on Sunday and Pandya contested five IPL finals in his glittering career, one thing is very surprising and that is, Pandya has never lost an IPL final.
