Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram down: Users hit with second major outage this year
Social media users are reporting a 505 error message on Facebook, while independent tracking website Down Detector has been flooded with reports. However, this is not the first time this year that all three giants have been down. In March, all three were down with most users reporting issues of connection, sending or receiving messages, while two percent of reports were of people unable to log-in.
Down Detector showed issues with all the apps globally, while Twitter users from all over the world complained of the outage.
More than 125,000 users reported issues with Instagram, which showed the message ‘5xx Server Error’.
More than 70,000 users reported issues with Whatsapp, with messages simply showing as unable to send.
Hashtags #InstagramDown and #Whatsapp
also trended in a number of countries.
