When it comes to players, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Son Heung-Min were the top 5 mentioned footballers on Twitter. The five most-mentioned teams on Twitter were Argentina, Brazil, France, Portugal and Croatia.

Most mentioned players across social media
NetBase Quid, a US-based market intelligence firm, has released a list of top 10 people mentioned around the World Cup this year. The company used its Social Listening solution to record the data.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe grabbed the top three spots, respectively. The fourth spot went to Jeon Jung-kook, the youngest member and vocalist of the South Korean boy band BTS, followed by Neymar. Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Spain national football team coach Luis Enrique, Grant Wahl (the US journalist who died while covering the World Cup in Qatar), and Messi’s teammate Julián Álvarez completed the top 10 list.
