WhatsApp is making disappearing messages feature more flexible, here’s how – Times of India

WhatsApp added the disappearing messages feature on its platform a while back and since then the Meta-owned instant messaging app has been making changes and modifications to the feature to make it more useful for users. A few days back, WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp has started testing more disappearing time options on Windows. Now, a new report claims that the company has started testing the same feature on iOS.
WhatsApp to offer more time options for disappearing messages
As of now, WhatsApp has been offering users to choose from 24 hours, 7 days and 90 days as the disappearing time options. Going forward and as per the report, it looks like WhatsApp will be offering users more freedom with the time options.
As per the report, WhatsApp has started testing 15 new time options on the latest TestFlight beta version of its app. The new time options include — 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour.
Do note that the feature is currently being tested on different platforms and is expected to arrive in WhatsApp with future updates. No official timeline is available regarding the rollout of the feature in the stable build.
How it will provide users more flexibility with disappearing messages
Considering the entire idea behind the disappearing messages feature is to provide users more privacy and security with the messages they are sending, especially with sensitive content. Currently WhatsApp either lets users share something and delete them afterwards or in fact share an image or video in View Once mode so that the message automatically gets deleted or removed after they’re viewed.
More time options for disappearing messages will add to that, except it will make things more flexible to let the message stay on others’ chat for as long as they want.
