WhatsApp starts rolling out updated beta app for Mac with Apple silicon widely – Times of India

WhatsApp has been testing the native app for Mac designed for Apple silicon for a couple of months now. The app was earlier available via TestFlight to a limited number of users. Now, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has made the WhatsApp for Mac beta publicly available, reports WABetaInfo.
According to the report, Mac users can now download the new WhatsApp app on their devices via the company’s official website. The updated WhatsApp app for Mac comes with Mac catalyst and that allows the app to take advantage of all the features that the iOS version of the app offers. The new app offers a more seamless experience for WhatsApp users on Mac with Apple silicon. Also, according to the report, the new app is optimised to take complete advantage of Mac’s hardware. In addition to this, the app also offers a design that makes it feel like a native macOS app with the inclusion of a new app sidebar and the ability to drag and drop files directly to share with people via WhatsApp.
It is important to note that the app is still in beta and is currently available to download only via WhatsApp’s official website. Users can head to the WhatsApp website’s download section and look for the new WhatsApp app for Mac beta.
Hit the download button to download the .dmg installation file. Once downloaded, double-click on the file to run the setup and all you need to do is drag and drop the file directly into the Applications folder.
That’s it. The new WhatsApp is now installed on the Mac. Open the app launcher and click on the WhatsApp icon. To pair your phone, scan the QR code shown on the screen with Link devices option using your smartphone.
Once everything is done, the WhatsApp app on Mac is ready.
