WhatsApp Web users to reportedly get this useful privacy feature – Times of India
Last month, WhatsApp rolled out a new privacy feature that grants more control to Android users who are enrolled in the beta program. The company calls the feature “My Contacts Except”. Now, as per a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform has rolled out the beta version 2.2149.1 for web users and it is preparing to roll out the privacy feature for more users.
For those who don’t know, the privacy feature allows users to control who can see their Last seen, status, profile photo and About description on WhatsApp. The feature can be accessed under the privacy settings. The app already had options like Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. With the new feature, users can select the contacts who they don’t wish to share information like last seen, profile photo, status and About description with. The contacts that are not selected by the user will not be able to see any new changes and information.
According to WABetaInfo, beta testers cannot see and choose “My Contacts Except” on WhatsApp Web, even if the feature is already enabled for their WhatsApp account. The report also suggests that the company will likely roll out the feature for web users when it has completely rolled out the same feature on Android beta and iOS beta.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out beta UWP 2.2148.3.7 or the Windows app. With the update, the company has added new emojis on the platform. These emojis were already available on Android and iOS devices. The Facebook owned platform now also allows users to create skin-tone combinations for couples emojis on the Universal Windows Platform app too. Recently, the feature was also rolled out for Android users with the beta update. Previously, the feature was only available for Apple iPhone users.
