We have an NFC North battle coming on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 14, and the matchup is one that will be very familiar to NFL fans. It is the longest-running rivalry in the NFL, after all.
The Packers and the Bears are squaring off in a rivalry game that could ultimately decide the fate of the NFC North. The Packers entered Week 14 with a four-game lead on the Vikings who played on “Thursday Night Football.” Essentially, the Packers need to win just once more to virtually lock up the division.
Meanwhile, the Bears are on the outskirts of the Wild Card race. They don’t figure to make a late-season playoff run, so this could be one of their most important remaining games during the 2021 NFL season.
The Bears and Packers always bring their A-games when they face off, and this will be no different. Expect the Lambeau Field crowd to be amped up for this one, as they’ll know what’s on the line for the Packers with a victory.
Below is more about the Week 14 matchup, plus everything to know about how to watch “Sunday Night Football.”

Who plays on ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight?
- Matchup: Bears at Packers
- Location: Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.
The Bears (4-8) are traveling to Green Bay to face the Packers (9-3) in the 204th all-time meeting between these two teams. The rivalry dates back to 1921, when the Bears — then known as the Staleys — beat the Packers 20-0.
This time around, the Packers have a clear advantage. The team is coming off a bye week that allowed Aaron Rodgers to get his injured toe some rest. Aaron Jones also had another week of rehab for his MCL sprain, so he could be ready to return to the field and give the Packers’ offense a boost.
It also helps that Green Bay’s defense ranks among the top-10 stop units in terms of total yardage and top-five in scoring defense this year. Joe Barry has done a nice job in Green Bay despite a slow start to the season. They should be able to slow the Bears down a bit.
The Bears have one of the worst offenses in the NFL. Andy Dalton has started the last two games with Justin Fields injured, and he threw four interceptions against the Cardinals. When Fields has played, he has largely struggled, as Matt Nagy hasn’t been able to get him going at all.
On the bright side for the Bears, their running game performed well against the Cardinals, so perhaps David Montgomery can carry them in this matchup. Still, this should prove to be a tough one for Chicago, but it may also be the most important game remaining in their season. They’re probably not going on a surprise playoff run, but perhaps they can treat the Packers as their “Super Bowl” of 2021.
Of course, that will be easier said than done. Nagy has beaten the Packers just once in seven tries. The Packers have won 20 of the last 23 games against the Bears dating back to December of 2008.
