Why Jeff Bezos has thanked ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ showrunners – Times of India

The world awaits the premiere of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, Amazon’s highly ambitious prequel TV series that brings back JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth and its stories to the cinematic medium. The stakes have never been higher when it comes to a TV/film adaptation of the universe of The Lord of the Rings and the expectations are running high amongst true blue fans. While the show premiered in the UK on August 30, it will come to the rest of the world on September 2 on Prime Video at 6 PM PT.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has meanwhile thanked the showrunners of The Rings of Power for ignoring his notes about the show at the right times. While introducing the first two episodes at the Odeon Lux cinema in Leicester Square, he said (via Variety): “Every showrunner’s dream – and I mean every showrunner – their dream is to get notes on scripts and early cuts from the founder and executive chairman. They loved that. I need to thank you both for listening whenever it helped but mostly I need to thank you for ignoring me at exactly the right times.”
He also added that his son actually came up to him one day and said: “Dad, please don’t eff this up.”
As per the report, Bezos also said that he fell in love with Tolkien’s works when he was probably 13 or 14 years old, after his grandfather introduced him to the British writer.
“I fell in love with the adventure of course, with the detailed universe, with the feelings of hope and optimism, with the idea that everybody has a role to play. And I’m happy to report that that cycle continues today.”, the report quotes Bezos as saying.
The Rings of Power features some chief characters fans will easily remember from Peter Jackson’s film trilogy like Galadriel, Elrond and Isildur.
