Windows 11: Microsoft has a new plan to solve Windows users video editing pains – Times of India

Microsoft never really had a video editing tool for Windows that offered a comprehensive set of editing tools and features ever since it discontinued Windows Movie Maker in 2017. The video editor that comes with Windows 10 and Xbox is basic and offers little in terms of features.
But this is set to change as the company is acquiring Clipchamp, a web browser-based video editing tool that counts Google, Deloitte and Dell among its customers (other than Microsoft). The company is integrating Chipchamp with Microsoft 365 as well as Windows operating system with the aim to offer a complete video edition solution to users. Microsoft has not announced any other details of the deal including the acquisition cost.
“As a web app that uses the full power of your PC, Clipchamp is a natural fit to extend the cloud-powered productivity experiences in Microsoft 365 for individuals, families, schools, and businesses,” explains Chris Pratley, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Office media group.

Whether you are editing game clips, making a school project, putting together a memory of your kids, or assembling the next indie short, Clipchamp and Microsoft will help you express yourself through the emotional power of video,” adds Pratley.
Founded in 2013, Clipchamp is a well known video editor that is used by several small and big companies like Dell, Google, Deloitte and Microsoft itself to easily create professional videos.
It’s a template-driven video editing tool with a rich library of filters, styles, transitions and stock media with multi-track audio and video compositing editor that uses system’s complete resources including CPU and GPU acceleration to render videos.
The tool is available for free to try. However, it costs $9 (approximately Rs 662) per month for paid subscription.
For those unaware, Microsoft has recently revamped its Photos app with a new interface, the video editing tool is still unchanged and lacks even basic features like multi-track layering, limited features, lack of good effects and transitions and slow overall performance.
With this new acquisition, we are expecting things to change in regards to video editing for Windows and Microsoft 365 users. It will also help the company eliminate one of the biggest limitations of the Windows operating system.
