It’s winter time in India and most parts of the world. To mark the beginning of the season in the northern hemisphere, tech giant Google has created an animated doodle. The Google Doodle features a hedgehog covered in snow.
Termed Winter Solstice, the day marks the beginning of the season in the northern hemisphere. It starts today and will end on March 20. Winter solstice is also called hibernal solstice, and brumal solstice. It occurs when either of Earth’s poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the sun. At the winter solstice, the sun travels the shortest path through the sky to the earth. This in simple term means shorter days and longer nights.
