Activision Blizzard is working on a mobile game based on World of Warcraft, the developer confirmed, as per a report by 9To5Mac. The game would most likely launch this year itself, if everything goes as planned.
Blizzard said in its fiscal Q4 2021 report that it is “planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and getting all-new mobile Warcraft content into players’ hands for the first time,”, quotes the report.
For now, there is no confirmation about the content that Blizzard is going to include in the Warcraft mobile game, only that it will come out sometime later this year.
Activision Blizzard was recently acquired by Microsoft and a mobile game of the massively popular MMORPG will only help in bringing the Warcraft game universe to more players across the globe. Also, as the company revealed, “new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone” are also in the pipeline, so we can expect plenty of gaming content coming from the developer this year, which could include an AR game like Pokémon GO, as per rumours.
World of Warcraft recently launched the Burning Crusade Classic, which is a recreation of the original release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Draenor, the homeworld of the orcs, is gone, and in its place lies its remains. Your journey takes you into Outland, where you will battle and increase your hero level and also come in contact with two races: Blood Elves and Draenei.
Also, despite the success of DotA, many are still there who want Blizzard to continue the Warcraft main game series after Warcraft III: Reforged, a remastered version of Warcraft III. Maybe Blizzard may announce its plans on Warcraft 4 too, as the developers haven’t ruled out a sequel to the game.
