Wriddhiman Saha signs for Tripura Ranji side | Cricket News – Times of India

KOLKATA: Wicket-keeper bastman Wriddhiman Saha began a new chapter in his playing career on Friday after officially taking over as the player-cum-mentor of the Tripura team for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy season.
Saha inked the agreement with Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) in presence of the association’s new president Tapan Lodh, joint secretary Kishore Kumar Das and other senior officer bearers.
“I will try my best to live up to the expectations of the Tripura Cricket Association. The responsibility of player-cum-mentor which I have been entrusted with is a big job and I will try to improve the overall performance of the Tripura team in the coming Ranji season,” Saha said after signing on the dotted lines.
The Siliguri boy, However, is not new to the state as he had played a lot of cricket against Tripura in different zonal tournaments. “I know a lot of players from this state and have played against most of them. I feel it will not take much time to get along with my teammates,” he added.
Although the Indian team management indirectly asked Saha to retire, the veteran of Test matches felt there’s still cricket left in him. “As long as I am able to contribute to the game, I will continue doing this,” he said.
Looking ahead to the season, Saha said, “We have three months for preparations. Certainly, it will help me in getting to know the strengths and weaknesses of the team.”
Saha brought the curtains down on his 15-year association with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) last week by obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from them after being hurt by comments of an official who raised questions about Saha’s commitment to the game.
